My Take On Male-Bashing

Male-Bashing Is Unacceptable

I read an article called “Are You Going to Let Him Manipulate You?? on a website called Latin Bay Area. Like so many articles I come across on abusive relationships, the author chose to label all males as perpetrators and all females as victims. While I applaud Maria Marin’s desire to empower women, like many others she does it by degrading men. I find this unacceptable.

How common is male-bashing? The answer is truly disturbing.

Raging Mother Roasts Kids Alive, Blames Husband … What’s New?

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

The crime:

Mother roasts two children alive

INDIA: Nirmala twisted the neck of her one-year-old son Munna before throwing him in flames. She killed her daughter Shelly in the same way…

Petrified after seeing the horrendous act, Nirmala’s third kid Divya struggled for her safety and even clawed her mother’s face. The girl raised an alarm and was helped by neighbours.

The confession:

After committing the dastardly act, Nirmala wept inconsolably for her children. She explained that she wanted to destroy her family in a fit of rage.

The scapegoat:

On being interrogated, Nirmala revealed that it was the torturous behaviour of her husband Mansa Ram Chaurasia that provoked her to take this beastly turn.

Say what?

She further informed that Mansa Ram falsely blamed her for having an illicit relationship and that he beat her very often. Not only this he once stripped her and even hit her.

“…even hit her”? Doesn’t that contradict “…he beat her very often”? Maybe she wasn’t interrogated; maybe she was trained.

Just curious, where is the proof he beat her?

Iowa Only Cares About Women?

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

Press Release
November 10, 2006

In his first act as governor-elect, Chet Culver has aborted Iowa’s 200,000 divorced dads. Culver did so by appointing Bonnie “wanted posters” Campbell to a policy position in Iowa government. Culver announced that Campbell will be chair of his transition team.

As Iowa’s Attorney General, in those few moments that she wasn’t running for governor, herself, Bonnie Campbell introduced the practice of putting the faces of divorced dads on wanted posters. She claimed that they were deadbeat dads, but some of the moms later
acknowledged that they were receiving direct support from their ex-husbands.

As Attorney General, Campbell also issued an attorney general’s opinion interpreting the “primary aggressor rule” in domestic abuse law. In so doing, Campbell directed all law enforcement officers in the state, in every case, to consider the primary aggressor to be the party who is taller, heavier, and has greater upper-body strength. Guess who that’s going to be?

Then, when Campbell was appointed to be deputy U.S. attorney general for women’s issues under the Clinton administration, she was on television in Washington, D.C. the next morning stating that all she cared about as attorney general of Iowa was women’s issues.

Chet Culver has put this anti-male, anti-father zealot in charge of his transition team, where she can set policy for his administration and put like-minded anti-male zealots into critical positions on Culver’s staff, in charge of state agencies, and on critical state boards and commissions.

As a result, Iowa’s 200,000 divorced dads have the dubious honor of being the first group of Iowans to be stabbed in the back by Chet Culver.

MediaRADAR: Two Victories in One Week!

Monday, December 4th, 2006

From MediaRADAR:

RADAR ALERT:

Intensive Global Efforts Bring Two Victories in One Week!

This past week our hard work was rewarded with two victories. And both of them stemmed from flawed reports from the United Nations.

1. UN Study on Violence Against Women

The first report was the UN secretary-general’s Study on Violence Against Women. The document amounted to an ideological denunciation of the “patriarchy” and recommended that every country around the world enact VAWA-like laws: http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/vaw. Columnist Wendy McElroy described the report as “embarrassingly inaccurate, ideological, and biased against men.” (http://www.ifeminists.net/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.55)

What happened next was nothing short of miraculous.

RADAR drafted a resolution calling on the UN Third Committee to only “note,” not “welcome” the report. The resolution was sent around the world, and within a few short weeks 118 organizations in 14 countries had endorsed it: http://www.mediaradar.org/docs/UN-ViolenceReport-Resolution.pdf

Alerts were issued and over a one-month period, an estimated 30,000 e-mails were sent to US ambassador John Bolton. The delegations from other countries were deluged with messages, as well.

When the dust had cleared, the Third Committee decided to “note,” not “welcome” the secretary-general’s report! A change of a single word may seem insignificant, but it basically means that the Committee gave the Secretary General’s report a failing grade.

Please send Ambassador Bolton short “thank you” for voting to only “note” the flawed secretary-general’s report at usa@un.int.
2. Washington Times Article on Abused Wives in India

The second report came from a chart developed by the UN Population Fund. Whoever made the chart committed statistical malpractice, because it simply makes no sense. (http://mensnewsdaily.com/2006/11/19/feminist-takeover-of-the-un-is-an-issue-of-national-security)

But that flawed chart gave rise to this statement that appeared in a front-page article in the Washington Times: “A 2005 U.N. Population Fund report found that 70 percent of married women in India were victims of beatings or rape.” (http://www.washingtontimes.com/world/20061113-120817-8603r.htm)

The statement was defamatory and beyond belief.

RADAR issued two Alerts, and the complaints POURED in. Messages came from the United States, Canada, India, and elsewhere.

So this past Tuesday, TWT finally ran the following retraction:

“Using a chart published in a 2005 U.N. Population Fund report – which the UN agency now says was misleading – a London Daily Telegraph article published in Nov. 13 editions of The Washington Times incorrectly stated the frequencies of wife abuse in India. The agency says that it does not have sufficient data to provide such a figure and that the chart was intended to show that 70 percent of Indian women who were abused by their husbands think such abuse is justified in at least some circumstances.” (http://washingtontimes.com/corrections/20061128-102228-2806r.htm)

These are major victories. Kudos for the messages you sent to the United Nations that would have otherwise treated half-truths and innuendo about violence against women as absolute truth. And kudos to all who complained to the Washington Times for publishing its inflammatory propaganda.

This Alert is sent in the spirit of appreciation and thanks for a job well done. This is an example of how a cooperative effort involving over 100 organizations in 14 countries around the world can truly make a difference.

Is Misandry Protecting Mothers Who Murder And Maim?

Monday, November 6th, 2006

MISANDRY
American Heritage Dictionary
mi·san·dry
n.
Hatred of men.

I’m a woman and I used to believe what the media said about men. Now I know better.

The media constantly exposes us to inaccurate, negative impressions of and statements about men. In looking for the root of the problem I found a network of people who benefit from misandry. Many of these people work for or with the family courts or domestic violence services, often both. I wonder if the Violence Against Women Act funds misandry. As I wrote in It’s Not Your Mother’s Fathers Movement Anymore, I watched as representatives from domestic violence and feminist organizations slandered fathers to defeat California’s 2005 Shared Parenting bill:

“Fathers who seek custody, they’re not all great fathers.? That was the truth according to Mira Fox, who runs Child Abuse Solutions, Inc…Fox said, “Children are often given into the custody of abusive fathers?…

Fox’s organization, by her own testimony that day, trains people in the family court system how to litigate and adjudicate child sexual abuse cases. Is Fox guilty of misandry or ignorance? The January 2005 Male Perpetrators of Child Maltreatment states:

…fathers are, “less likely than other male perpetrators to be involved in sexual abuse.?

The Administration for Children and Families says:

In 2004, 45.6% of child victims were maltreated by their mothers acting alone or with other and only 19.5 percent were maltreated by their fathers acting alone or with other.

Last week I came across a pamplet by the California Women’s Law Center called Teen Dating Violence. Teen dating violence is indeed a serious problem that needs to be addressed. Is it acceptable that their brochure is only about males who abuse and female victims? Is this misandry? Studies show not only are female teens increasingly violent, girls are more likely to victimize their partner than boys are.

Today I read an opinion piece called Murderously self-pitying fathers by India Knight, where she laid out the horrifying details of four fathers who murdered their families, yet writes nothing of murderous moms. She starts by suggesting she reads about murderous fathers weekly:

Another week, another horrifying story about men’s frequent and calamitous inability to cope with crisis. Gavin Hall, 33, was jailed for life last week after drugging then suffocating his three-year-old daughter Millie as “revenge? for his wife’s infidelity…Stories such as these crop up with depressing regularity.

To come up with the four stories she had to go back three years. Is Knight guilty of misandry or just ignorance?

According to this graph by the Administration for Children and Families:

In 2004 “Mother Only and Mother and Other? was reported as perpetrator for 40.6 percent of child deaths and “Father Only and Father and Other? accounted for only 15.6 percent.

Is misandry protecting moms who murder and maim?

North Dakota Bureaucrats Desperate To Defeat Children’s Bill, Why?

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

One has to wonder why North Dakota bureaurats would be so desperate as to break the law to defeat a bill that would benefit their state’s children. What would cause normal, everyday people to lie, use taxpayer money and their positions to rally illegally against a bill that would bring stability to children after divorce? The answer is obvious, but I’ll get to that later.

First, I’d like to dispell the rumors and lies that have been spread through an efficiently organized campaign of opposition.

It’s been said that North Dakota would lose more than $70 million dollars in federal monies if measure 3 passes. Dr. Wade F. Horn, Assistant Secretary for Children and Families, Department of Health and Human Services has dispelled this lie in a letter to Ms. Carol K. Olson, Executive Director of North Dakota’s Department of Human Services dated September 27, 2006. (link)

It’s also been said that this measure would harm children financially, that there would no longer be child support. Aside from the fact that all parents support their children financially when they’re in their care (meals, housing, etc) whether custodial or noncustodial, the truth is child support would still exist.

Like California and other states, North Dakota would simply calculate child support based on both parents’ income instead of just one. No longer do we live in a 1950’s society with most moms staying home while dad works. Today, most mothers work outside the home and have their own income. And we can’t ignore the fact that studies show shared parenting increases compliance to child support orders.

One common myth is that shared parenting is unsettling to children, that they won’t know where they’ll be sleeping night-to-night. Ask any child with shared parenting if this is true and they’ll tell you, “No.? Children with shared parenting adjust to their lifestyle just as well as children who are new to overnight day care, camp, visiting grandparents or any number of situations where they sleep away from Mom’s house. The most important thing for a child’s stability is consistency. Keeping both parents actively involved in a child’s life after divorce benefits them.

Children with shared parenting talk about having two neighborhoods, two sets of friends and family, not two houses, but two homes. The number one complain of children of divorce is losing contact with one parent. Shared parenting assures that won’t happen. While opponents claim forcing couples into shared parenting increases conflict, studies show just the opposite; shared parenting reduces conflict. (Bender, W.N. 1994. Joint custody: The option of choice. Journal of Divorce & Remarriage 21 (3/4): 115-131)

Opponents want voters to think that measure 3 will force every family into a strict 50/50 timeshare. The truth is every family will work out the timeshare that best benefits their children. Factors such as the age of the children, school, extracurricular activities, location of parents’ homes, etc, will all be taken into account. Parents will write a parenting plan together, one that can and should be adjusted as the years go by and circumstances change.

Domestic violence organizations claim that shared parenting puts women and children in danger. The truth is less than 1% of all divorces are families involved in domestic violence. Considering the fact that all shared parenting bills include provisions to protect these families, why are we punishing the children in the other 99% of divorces?

Domestic violence organizations also allude to the fact children will be forced to spend the night with fathers who sexually abuse them. Aside from the fact that mothers commit most child maltreatment (link), studies show fathers are the least likely to commit sexual abuse (link). The most common adult perpetrator is a male acquaintance of the child’s mother. Keeping fathers close to their children protects them.

There are a multitude of studies showing the positive aspects of shared parenting on children and families. (link)

So, with all of these benefits to children, why are certain organizations opposing measure 3? How does that phrase go? Oh yeah, “Follow the money.? The people who are showing acts of desperation are those who fear losing their jobs. In an email to his directors (on your taxpayer dime), one government employee wrote, “…’talk it up’ in your communities about the ‘terrible impact’ these measures can have…?

So my questions to the citizens of North Dakota are these: Who are you going to listen to, people who organize illegal coalitions and spread lies to keep their jobs, or children who’ve been through divorce, both with and without shared parenting? What are you going to believe, lies and rumors spread as fear tactics, or multiple reputable studies showing the benefits of shared parenting to children?

Ron Branson On The Judicial Accountability Initiative Law (J.A.I.L.), Darren Mack Video

Friday, October 20th, 2006

ron branson

William Wagener of On Second Thought TV interviewed Ron Branson, founder of the Judicial Accountability Initiative Law, or J.A.I.L. South Dakota voters will be able to vote for J.A.I.L on next month’s ballot.

mack family

As a special addition at the end, Wagener includes video of Darren Mack, sixteen days before his wife was shot dead and the judge in his divorce case was shot. Mack, father to an 8-year-old daughter, has been charged with both crimes.

Recently a senior judge disqualified all Washoe District Court judges from a list of civil cases involving Darren Mack. Senior Judge J. Charles Thompson said “a reasonable person” might question whether those judges “would be entirely impartial when one of their own is the victim of such a serious offense.”

Share Your Thoughts On The UN Secretary-General’s Study on Violence Against Women

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Ed Bartlett at Media RADAR asks us to send emails and faxes to Ambassador Bolton expressing our opinions on the recent Study on Violence Against Women by the Secretary-General. He says:

Consider how the Violence Against Women Act has harmed shared parenting in this country – if we don’t act now, this report will do the same thing to fathers around the world.

So as soon as you possibly can – preferably today — please e-mail US ambassador John Bolton at this address: usa@un.int. Or you can fax your letter to him at: 212-415-4443. Here’s a draft letter – feel free to modify as appropriate:

Dear Ambassador Bolton:

Recently the UN Secretariat released the Secretary-General’s Study on Violence Against Women. Although the report is well-intentioned, the information presented in the report is biased and one-sided. Worse, many of its recommendations, if implemented, will serve to violate the civil rights of innocent citizens, undermine families, and separate children from their fathers.

These concerns are documented in a number of reports that are available at www.mediaradar.org. I am respectfully requesting that when this report comes up for consideration by the Third Committee, that you strongly urge the committee to:

1. Simply “Note? (but not “Welcome?) the recent Secretary-General’s report.

2. Discourage implementation of the recommendations of the Study on Violence Against Women until its long-term effects on families and children are analyzed and understood.

Sincerely,

[your name, address, and telephone]

Please be polite in your communication – remember that ambassador Bolton is working hard to reform and streamline the United Nations.

Additional information on the UN Report on Violence Against Women is now available on the RADAR website: www.mediaradar.org .

I have to agree; the domestic violence laws in our country are far from perfect. They need reform as soon as possible. It’s way too easy for people to misuse the system. Even police on the ground say so.

lapd

Says Ray:

“I parked directly across from the entrance to the Los Angeles Police Department garage for the Van Nuys station…At one point as I was reading my book I heard a car horn honk right next to my truck. I looked up and saw a black and white right beside me. Three uniformed officers were in the car and the officer in the front was smiling. As I scanned my eyes over to the driver I could see he was giving me a thumbs up. I nodded in agreement and returned the thumbs up.?
